Dr. Sherri Dennett
Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Dr. Sherri Dennett earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1995, after completing a Chemistry degree at the University of Manitoba in 1992.
Dr. Dennett has worked in both small and large animal clinics, but she gained her most significant experience as an emergency doctor at the Winnipeg Animal Emergency Clinic and later at Alta Vista Animal Hospital in Ottawa. In 2007, she co-founded Riverside South Animal Hospital with Dr. Heather Fitch.
In 2005, she launched Dennett Veterinary Mobile, bringing veterinary care directly to pets in their homes — a service especially valued by seniors, breeders, and multi-pet households. She became PennHIP certified in 2011 and has a strong passion for veterinary dentistry and pain management. She also works closely with Friends of Abandoned Pets and Adopt Me Cat Rescue.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Dennett enjoys cross-country skiing, cooking, and spending time at the cottage with her family and pets: a springer spaniel named Duke, two Bichon Frises named Betty and Fletch, and a cat named Libby.
Dr. Heather Fitch
Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dr. Heather Fitch earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College, graduating in 1992, after completing a degree in Animal Science at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1985.
She began her career as an emergency veterinarian at the Winnipeg Animal Emergency Clinic and later worked with the Manitoba Government as an Animal Protection Officer. After relocating to Ottawa, Dr. Fitch joined Alta Vista Animal Hospital as an emergency veterinarian before co-founding Riverside South Animal Hospital with Dr. Sherri Dennett in 2007.
Dr. Fitch is passionate about small animal medicine and surgery, with a special interest in the care of rabbits, rats, and other small mammals. She lives in South Ottawa with her husband, along with their 2 cats (Bookie and Caspurr), beloved Chi-weenie Abby. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, photography, and riding her motorcycle on sunny days.
